247News: FG Issues Automatic Employment To 173 NYSC Ex-Corps Members

The Federal Government has on Monday, December 14, issued automatic letters of employment to 173 former members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC into the federal civil service for distinguishing themselves during their service at the primary assignment.

According to Tribune, nine physically-challenged ex-corps members were among those given the employment. The letters were presented to the recipients, who served in 2012, 2013 and 2014 by the chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Mrs Joan Ayo.

Ayo, while presenting the letters, commended the awardees for exhibiting exemplary conduct and discipline throughout their years in service.

“You are a special breed, congratulations on this achievement. You did not only excel in the universities, but also during your NYSC. It shows you are hard working, that is why you have been able to distinguish yourselves among your peers
“Your appointments are on merit and that is why it has nothing to do with the federal character principle. Your selection is devoid of political influence. It has nothing to do with political affiliation.”
Out of the 173 members that were appointed, 164 got presidential awards while the remaining nine were introduced into the scheme through Hope Alive, a brainchild of the NYSC.
