The first weekend of this year’s Coachella Music & Arts Festival kicked off in Indio, California on Friday (Apr. 16). LCD Soundsystem, Jack Ü (Skrillex and Diplo), G-Eazy, Rae Sremmurd, Joey Bada$$, DJ Mustard, and more took to the various outdoor stags across the sandy desert last night. A$AP Rocky closed out Day 1 by bringing a few surprise guests, the first being TDE’s ScHoolboy Q, who joined Pretty Flacko to perform their AT.LONG.LAST.A$AP collaboration “Electric Body.”
The highlight of Rocky’s short 34-minute set (which was cut down due to Rocky being late) was an appearance by Kanye West. Yeezy slowly walked on stage as The Life of Pablo cut “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1″ began playing, performing the album standout as the crowd turned into mayhem before the rapper’s mic was cut off.
Kanye also popped up during Jack Ü’s (Skrillex and Diplo) set, leading the crowd to clap along as “Power” played. In a light-hearted moment backstage, the 38-year-old was spotted racing Tyler, the Creator, who won their sprint-off which was captured by Tyler’s friend Taco.
