Deadline Day: Super Eagles star seals Eredivisie return as he joins Feyenoord

The Dutch giants have added more firepower to their attack by bringing in a Nigerian international just before the close of the transfer window

Feyenoord have completed the signing of Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers on a season-long loan deal from Genk.

A statement on the Dutch Club’s website read: Feyenoord brings Cyriel Dessers back to the Netherlands. The 26-year-old attacker is rented from KRC Genk for the rest of the season.

Dessers will hope rediscover his form in a league where he made his name. The Belgium-born Nigerian striker joined Genk from Heracles last summer after finishing as the joint-top scorer of the 2019/2020 Eredivisie campaign with 15 goals.

However, he could not replicate the feat with the Belgian side last season. Dessers found himself overshadowed by his international compatriot Paul Onuachu,, who finished as the Belgian top-flight top scorer last season with 33 goals for Genk.
