Meet Super Eagles star Sunusi Ibrahim

News broke out on Thursday about the call up of Montreal Impact Striker Sunusi Ibrahim to the Nigerian national team that would square up against Mexico on the 4th of July in the USA.

The Super Eagles squad has been plagued with withdrawals due to injury and logistics issues, all of which has been amidst the current back and forth going on in the NFF and Sports Ministry.

This has created an opportunity for untested players- home and abroad to get a chance to put on the green and white jersey.

Sunusi is one of the players that has benefited from these withdrawals. The 18-year-old plays as a right-winger for Montreal Impact.

He joined the Major League Soccer (MLS) side from 36 Lions FC in January. The youngster has previously represented Nigeria at youth level at the Under-23 African Championship qualifiers, where He featured in three games.

Sunusi has also been capped by the Nigerian senior team. He made his debut in a CHAN qualifier against Togo where he scored the consolation goal in a 4-1 defeat to the home-based Eagles.

The talented forward also played for Nassarawa United. Sunusi has played six times for Montreal Impact this season but hasn’t been able to find the back of the net.
